Karius close to joining Besiktas on loan

Loris Karius is likely to join Besiktas on a two-year loan deal, which will include an option to buy, this week, according to various reports.
Karius was in impressive form before a pair of costly errors in May’s Champions League Final and has now lost the no.1 role to new arrival Alisson Becker.
According to Dominic King of the Mail, Karius was ‘rattled’ by Jurgen Klopp’s decision to move for the Brazilian and, after holding talks with the manager, has accepted that a move elsewhere is the best option for his career.
Karius faced the prospect of limited game-time, with Alisson expected to play every game both in the Premier League and in Europe.
He has travelled to London with the rest of the squad ahead of Monday night’s game against Crystal Palace, but according to James Pearce, it will be Simon Mignolet who takes up the spot on the bench.
The Mirror’s David Maddock says Liverpool will pocket a loan fee of £2.25million, along with a further £7.25million if the deal is made permanent in 2020.

Karius will become a Besiktas player if he plays a sufficient number of games and the Super Lig outfit qualify for Europe.
Maddock adds that Klopp chose to allow his compatriot to move on after a deal for Mignolet to join Fulham collapsed.
David Lynch of the Evening Standard claims Mignolet’s representatives will still a seek a loan move but King says Liverpool will retain the Belgian, who has expressed frustration at his recent lack of opportunities, to ensure they have experienced back-up to Alisson.
If both Karius and Mignolet were to leave, an injury to Alisson would force Liverpool to start 19-year-olds Kamil Grabara or Caoimhin Kelleher.
Since squad numbers have already been finalised, Karius’ anticipated departure will not allow Alisson to take the no.1 jersey.
