Klopp looking to trim squad before European transfer deadline

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp will attempt to trim his squad before tomorrow’s European transfer deadline.

The Reds have already shipped out Danny Ward, Jon Flanagan, Emre Can, Ragnar Klavan and Danny Ings (permanent transfer in 2019) this summer, and have loaned out Loris Karius, Marko Grujic, Adam Bogdan and Ben Woodburn, among others.

And the Echo reports that Klopp will also look to offload Divock Origi, Lazar Markovic, Sheyi Ojo and Pedro Chirivella before the window closes on Friday.

Origi was close to a move to Borussia Dortmund before talks broke down when the German club refused to meet Liverpool’s £27million asking price. Liverpool wanted a permanent deal but Dortmund sought only a loan move for the striker.

Besiktas, who signed Karius on a two-year loan deal, are among a number of clubs interested in Origi, and Liverpool still anticipate that he will leave before the deadline tomorrow. Should he stay, however, Klopp may look to send Dominic Solanke out on loan to gain more experience instead.

Liverpool are also keen to offload Markovic, who has less than a year remaining on his contract, by Friday. The Serbian spent the second half of last season on loan at Anderlecht, with the same club keen on a season-long loan for the winger. Standard Leige are also interested.

Ojo and Chirivella are also close to departing Anfield, with a season-long loan deal at Stade de Reims on the cards for Ojo.
