Liverpool to discover Champions League fate tonight
Liverpool will discover who they’ll face in this season’s Champions League when the draw takes place in Monaco at 5pm this evening.
After finishing fourth in the Premier League last season, the Reds earned automatic qualification to the 2018/19 season of the tournament and will be seeded in pot three for tonight’s draw.
Play-off matches for the competition ended on Wednesday evening, finalising the placings for the 32 teams in the tournament.
Reds fans had clung to the slim hope that Benfica would be beaten by PAOK in last night’s playoff match, pushing them into pot three and giving Liverpool the chance to square up to more favourable opponents. However, a horrendous goalkeeping mistake by PAOK goalkeeper Alexandros Paschalakis swung the game in Benfica’s favour and condemned Liverpool to pot three for the draw.

Liverpool came agonisingly close to winning last season’s Champions League and will hope for another good run in the competition this season.
