Liverpool Will Beat City to the Premier League Title, Says Pearce

People on television make predictions and this is one of those from Stuart Pearce about Liverpool winning the league.

I don’t know much about Stuart Pearce, but I do know he’s just thrown his hat into the ring for the good guys. The former England international and Sky Sports pundit has made a bold prediction that Liverpool will best Manchester City to the Premier League title this season.

Anyone can see that Jürgen Klopp and his team are playing for trophies. And a solid start of six points and two clean sheets out of the opening two games is an exceptional beginning to the great adventure ahead.

But City have started with six points, too. And so have four other teams, including Watford and Bournemouth. The league will be tough, as always, but, with neither Manchester United nor Tottenham Hotspur strengthening their starting eleven over the summer, and Chelsea in transition with another new manager, it is a pretty decent moment for Liverpool to start their modern day dynasty.

“I personally think they’ll win the league this year,” said Pearce. “I think it’s a two-horse race between them and City and they might just come out on top.

”I’m seeing a belief within the group that I probably haven’t seen before from the back end of last season. They’re hungry as well. They lost the Champions League final and the manner in the way they lost the final will hurt them.

”They didn’t win the league last year so I think they’ve got the hunger in their belly. They’re chasing that first title for however long and I think that hunger will get them over the line.”

Hunger, yes. But Jürgen Klopp is an excellent football manager and he managed this Liverpool side to the heights of last season. The club has identified targets for the manager and backed him financially in the transfer market. The team is amazing right now and Liverpool have some incredible players doing incredible things on the football pitch. But the excellent handling of the club from the top down is what is driving the success.

I don’t much care for who predicts what. But it feels good having Liverpool in the Premier League title conversations.
