Pellegrini: No ‘special plan’ for Salah
West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini insists his side do not have a ‘special plan’ to neutralise the threat posed by Mohamed Salah when they visit Anfield on Sunday.
After scoring a record 32 goals in the Premier League last season, Salah will be looking to open his account for 2018/19 against the Londoners.
Last term, he bagged three goals in Liverpool’s two meetings with the Hammers, but Pellegrini believes it would be dangerous to pay too much attention to just one of the opposition’s many outlets.
“[We have] no special plans for him because if Liverpool were just Salah it would be easier but they have Firmino, Mane, they have Shaqiri, a lot of players that can make a difference,” he explained.
“But Salah is a great player and we all saw what he did last season.”

It is a daunting task for the former Manchester City boss in his first game in charge, but he is confident his team can come away with a result if they seize the opportunities which present themselves.
“At some moment in the season you have to play Liverpool away, so better to start with them,” he said. “I know Liverpool are in a very good moment with a lot of trust in what they are doing but, in football, results can depend on two or three points in a game.
