Salah makes history with latest nomination

Mohamed Salah has become the first Premier League player to make the final three-man shortlist for the UEFA Men’s Player of the Year Award.

Salah is also the first African footballer to the achieve the feat.

It comes after the Egyptian hit a phenomenal 44 goals in his first season at Anfield following his move from Roma.

10 of Salah’s strikes came on his side’s remarkable run to the Champions League final.

The winger has scooped a plethora of top prizes at Anfield, including the Premier League Player of the Year Award, but faces stiff competition from five-time Ballon D’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo and his former Real Madrid team-mate Luka Modric, the World Cup Player of the Tournament.

The victor will be revealed during the Champions League group stage draw on August 30.

Salah is also expected to be in the running for the aforementioned Ballon D’Or, the ultimate individual prize. The list of nominations is set to be released in October.
