Firmino hands Reds late boost ahead of PSG game

Roberto Firmino is among the Liverpool squad for tonight’s Champions League meeting with PSG, suggesting he has sufficiently recovered from his eye problem.

Firmino was forced off in the 2-1 win against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday after Jan Vertonghen inadvertently poked him in the eye.

The injury was not as serious as initially feared, but Jurgen Klopp told reporters at his Monday press conference that he did not know if the Brazilian would be able to play against the Parisians.

Firmino did not train with his team-mates as they finalised their preparations at Melwood later that day.

However, he has been pictured arriving at Anfield with no sign of lingering discomfort, raising hopes that he will be able to start the blockbuster clash.

If indeed the forward can play from the off, it would be a significant boost for the Reds.

Firmino is in fine form, having scored in his last two games, and was directly involved in more goals than any other player in last season’s competition.
