Graeme Souness backs Liverpool for title after Spurs victory

Liverpool legend Graeme Souness backs the Reds to win the Premier League title after defeating Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 at Wembley Stadium yesterday.

Goals courtesy of Georginio Wijnaldum and Roberto Firmino yesterday extended Liverpool’s run to five wins from five games in the 2018-19 Premier League campaign, and Souness believes from what he has seen thus far, the Reds should be confident of claiming a maiden Premier League title.

“The result does not flatter Liverpool, it flatters Spurs,” Souness said on Sky Sports following the match.

“Liverpool were fabulous, really impressive. The front three were a real menace.

“Any manager who wants to win the Premier League will be impressed with that Liverpool performance today.

“I think this could be their year.

“This is as good a Liverpool side we’ve seen since they last won it. They have strength all over the park.

“Any side who finishes higher than Liverpool will finish as champions. Today they made a statement.”
