Lazar Markovic demoted to Under-23s training

Lazar Markovic has been demoted from Liverpool’s first team squad to Liverpool’s Under-23 squad. 

The Serbian winger was set to leave Anfield and join Anderlecht on transfer deadline day, but the deal collapsed at the last minute.

The 24-year-old was subsequently given a chance to impress Klopp but failed in doing so – sealing his current fate.

Markovic recently played in a behind closed doors friendly against Crewe Alexandra.

The former Benfica player only has one year left on his current contract and is almost certain to leave the Reds.
