Danny Murphy praises Georginio Wijnaldum
Former Red, Danny Murphy, believes Georginio Wijnaldum has been terrific this season for Liverpool and has been a key reason why the Reds have had such a solid start to the season.
Wijnaldum, who has been a mainstay in midfield for Jurgen Klopp this season, has gone a bit under the radar according to Murphy.
Murphy told The Debate on Sky Sports: “I think Wijnaldum’s gone under the radar, he’s been absolutely sensational, kept his place in a midfield where they’ve spent over £100million.
“And he’s actually played holding role and in an attacking role, I think he’s been a real plus this season.”

Liverpool are preparing to welcome Manchester City to Anfield this weekend in the Premier League, where the Citizens have not won since 2003.
The Reds are coming off a poor loss against Napoli in the Champions League, and despite City’s form, Murphy believes it will all be irrelevant come Sunday.
“I think it’s a really exciting game, you know that both managers are going to be playing the same way – they always do,” he said.
“They’ll trust their players to do what their style is better than the opposition. I think it could go either way.
“I think it will be another humdinger because you know City aren’t going to sit back and you know Liverpool aren’t going to do anything other than go after them and try and win that game at home.
“I’m really looking forward to it. I made City favourites [to win the league] at the beginning [of the season] because of the massive [points] gap [last year], I think Liverpool have bridged the gap with the signings they’ve made but it’s still a big one.
“I don’t think if they beat City – which I think they will – if they do, it doesn’t mean they’re going to win the league. But it will be a hell of a game.”
