Sadio Mane on playing with Salah & Mane and Liverpool winning silverware

Sadio Mane says he is happy to play alongside Mohamed Salah and  Roberto Firmino and provided a bullish response to being asked about Liverpool’s chances of winning silverware this season.

The Senegal attacker is a key part of Jürgen Klopp’s team and enjoyed his best ever season last term, scoring 20 goals in 44 appearances, including 10 in the Champions League to take the Reds to Kiev.

With the Reds sitting pretty in second place in the Premier League, just two points behind the champions Manchester City, there is a chance that Liverpool could break their duck and win the trophy for the first time since its commercial rebranding in 1992.

When asked about an apparent drop off in fluidity in the Liverpool front three, Mane responded by saying that he loves playing with Salah and Firmino but the likes of Virgil van Dijk at the back make it possible for Liverpool’s forwards get on with things at the business end of the pitch.

Mane told Goal: “Honestly, I always enjoy playing alongside these great players. They make everything easy for me!

“We are very close, we love to play together and we love to give each other the pass to score. It’s amazing to play alongside them.

“Lucky for us, everyone talks about myself, Mo and Bobby, but, believe me, the work starts from the beginning. We are Liverpool, and we have a great team all over. They make the foundation for us, and make it easier for the forwards to shine.”

On Liverpool’s chances of winning silverware this season, Mane cited Liverpool’s good start to the season as reason to believe.

He said: “We are on a good run, and we have started well this season. It’s too early to speak about the title, or winning trophies yet, but we can take it game by game.

“It’s not easy. There are so many great teams. Both the Manchester clubs, Chelsea as well. But we are Liverpool. We don’t concentrate on other teams; we are thinking about ourselves.

“Our fans, they make it easier for us. They play a big part in our success. Sometimes you can see that the team playing against us is scared a bit because of that.

“But that’s why they call it Anfield. That’s why we are Liverpool. We’re here to win.”
