Divock Origi says scoring the winning goal in the Derby is “unbelievable”

Divock Origi sunk Everton in dramatic fashion at Anfield on Sunday after coming on as a late substitute and says the feeling of score a late winner is “unbelievable.”

The Belgian forward has come full circle since the last time he played in a Merseyside Derby. Since being felled by Ramiro Funes Mori in 2016, Origi experienced a loss of form and went on loan to Wolfsburg before returning to Liverpool.

His presence in the Reds’ camp has been largely unnoticed and until tonight, he had yet to play any meaningful role in the season but what a way to announce himself to his manager.

“It’s unbelievable!” Origi told Liverpoolfc.com immediately after the final whistle.

“Derbies are always special, I’ve played in a couple of them and I’ve scored in a couple of them but this one was the most crucial one, so it is very, very special for me.

“I had the first chance and it was Virg, so I knew there was an open ball.

“Then I just played on my instinct, I was so hungry to help the team and give whatever I could. I had a good action before down the side but I wanted to be in [the box]. Thank God, it came in front of me.”
