Jurgen Klopp questions the importance of winning silverware
Jurgen Klopp has questioned whether or not trophies are the be all and all for football managers, saying that if he is only remembered for the silverware he has won then that’s a pity.
Since joining Liverpool, the German has failed to win a trophy but has taken his side to three cup finals, losing all three.
Sympathisers will argue that Klopp overachieved by taking Liverpool to each final and despite this being true, critics use his failure to win silverware so far as a stick to beat him with.

When asked about the importance of winning silverware, Klopp replied: “No that’s true but do I have to? Do I have to win it?
“People might remember that but what I have to do is make the best of the things the club is offering me – that is what I believe in.
“If people say the Champions League campaign last season was not a success because we didn’t win the final then I cannot change that. Is the finish successful? No, but the ride was brilliant. I enjoyed it a lot.
“The pressure is from outside, people saying if I don’t win silverware then I have to leave. In the moment you find someone who can do the job better you have to take him.”
