Trent Issues Derby Promise: “Anfield Will Be Fierce”

The young Scouser looks set for his first Merseyside derby start.

The Merseyside Derby is always a fierce, volatile, blustery affair that has produced more than a few red cards and controversial moments in its history. Now that Everton unfortunately have a competent manager in Marco Silva, the event should be an even more fascinating one when Everton make the one mile trek to Anfield on Sunday.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is Liverpool’s only first team Scouser, and so it’s unsurprising that people are interested in what he has to say about the fixture. It’s also unsurprising that the young full-back is excited to earn his first derby start, and that he

“Anfield is somewhere teams don’t really want to come to because it’s so fierce,” Alexander-Arnold told the ECHO. “I think Everton are one of those teams who probably don’t like coming here. I’m sure they will be a bit intimidated, but we still have to recognise that it will be a tough test and we need to focus on it.

“We want to extend this run we’ve had against them. With the support of the fans and the atmosphere that will be around the game, we need to impose ourselves on them.”

Liverpool have a stellar home record, having only conceded one goal at Anfield this season, and remaining unbeaten there in the league since February. Everton, on the other hand, are having trouble away from home.

The odds seem in Liverpool’s favor, but odds mean nothing when it comes to this weirdo, unrepresentative fixture every season.
