James Tarkowski rumours rubbished by Burnley boss Sean Dyche
Burnley boss Sean Dyche has rubbished talk of a loan approach from Liverpool for England defender James Tarkowski.
Liverpool have been light in defence since injuries to Joel Matip and Joe Gomez left them stretched for squad depth.
Gomez fractured his leg Liverpool’s victory at Burnley, while Matip fractured his collar bone in the Champions League tie with Napoli; both in fairly innocuous challenges.

Dejan Lovren stepped into the fold to cover, but picked up an injury against Wolves as Virgil Van Dijk was rested, leaving the Reds with Fabinho and 16-year-old Ki-Jana Hoever for cover.
Gomez and Matip are both expected back towards the end of January, however there is currently no timescale of Lovren’s hamstring issue.
Despite claims he won’t sign anyone, reports claim Klopp is in the market for another defender to prevent a crisis at the back, and had looked at signing England international James Tarkowski.
Tarkowski has made 24 appearances in all competitions so far this season for Burnley, and manager Dyche has moved to quell speculation on his future.
He said: “There are a lot of rumours out there, and not much fact. The most amazing one is the Tarky one. That is just bizarre. It’s that time of the season, and everyone is looking for a snippet, but there is a lot of phantom stuff out there.”
Liverpool will face Brighton on Saturday with only one fit senior centre-back, as things stand.
