Jurgen Klopp to keep Divock Origi for remainder of the season

Jurgen Klopp is set to keep Divock Origi at Liverpool for the remainder of the season despite rumours suggesting the Belgian was set to leave.

James Pearce from the Liverpool Echo has reported that Origi will stay due to the sale of forward Dominic Solanke to Bournemouth for £19million.

Klopp wants Origi, alongside Daniel Sturridge, to remain as a back up option to the front three of Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.

Klopp ultimately wants options in case of an injury crisis, and Origi gives him that.

Origi, who’s contract expires in 2020, was linked with Premier League rivals Wolves, West Ham and Fulham since the January window opened.

The Reds value Origi at around £20million and had been open to offers for the Belgian, but it appears the dramatic winner against Everton has seen Origi force his way back into Klopp’s plans.

Origi also scored in Liverpool’s 2-1 FA Cup defeat to Wolves last Monday night, which may have helped his case.

Origi, who has scored 23 goals in 81 appearances for the club, will remain on Merseyside unless there is a change of heart.
