Mohamed Salah claims 2018 CAF African Player of the Year award
Mohamed Salah has claimed the 2018 CAF African Player of the Year award for the second successive year.
Salah received the accolade at a ceremony in Dakar on Tuesday evening.
Salah had competition from teammate Sadio Mane and Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, although the Egyptian was deemed the worthy winner, as voted by the technical directors and head coaches of 56 CAF member associations.

The Egyptian had an exceptional 12 months, scoring a record-breaking 32 goals in the 2017/18 Premier League campaign and 44 across all competitions for the Reds.
Salah’s goals were vital in Liverpool competing in the 2018 Champions League final against Real Madrid, although they could not claim the trophy come the end of the night in Kiev.
The forward also featured for his country at the 2018 FIFA World Cup, although a shoulder injury he suffered during the Champions League final hampered his time in Russia.
