Virgil van Dijk trains at Melwood after missing Wolves defeat

Liverpool take on Brighton at the Amex Stadium this weekend and will be looking to get back to winning ways after losing their first game of the season against Manchester City last week.

If recent comments from Liverpool players are anything to go by, it seems unlikely that defeat at the Etihad Stadium will have derailed the Reds’ confidence.

Yet, with Jurgen Klopp having to contend with a defensive crisis, Virgil van Dijk’s presence in training on Wednesday afternoon will come as a boost as the Merseysiders look to maintain their title bid.

Van Dijk missed Liverpool’s FA Cup defeat to Wolves with what Jurgen Klopp described as a minor injury and after training at Melwood, it seems he is likely to start once again for the Reds.

Before the match, the German manager said: “Virg cannot play; he is at home and hopefully it is nothing, but he has played all the games so far, so we had to try to find a solution for that.”

A gallery on Liverpool’s official website shows the big Dutchman training and hopefully, van Dijk can help his side to another win in the league and get things back on track after the City blow.
