Liverpool’s Final Premier League Squad Includes An Old, Forgotten Friend
Klopp is pulling from the reserves to shore up his options at right-back.
Remember Connor Randall? Well, Jürgen Klopp does, and the 23-year-old defender was the only surprise addition to Klopp’s 25-man squad set to take on the Premier League for the rest of the season.
Now that the January transfer window is over, teams are expected to produce their final teams. Randall clearly takes the space that would have been filled by Nathaniel Clyne, had the veteran right-back not gone out on loan this season.
Klopp seems to be feeling that loss, now that Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joe Gomez have both missed significant game time with injuries this season.
Enter Connor Randall, who hasn’t featured for Liverpool since 2016 and spent the first half of this season on loan with Rochdale. With the Reds out of both domestic cup competitions, it’s unlikely that Randall will do anything more than sit on the bench, unless the situation becomes particularly dire.
Still, it would have been nice to have the well-tested Nathaniel Clyne at Liverpool’s disposal until May.
Liverpool’s full roster looks like this:
LIVERPOOL PREMIER LEAGUE SQUAD: Alisson, Fabinho, Firmino, Henderson, Keita, Lallana, Lovren, Mane, Matip, Mignolet, Milner, Moreno, Origi, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Randall, Robertson, Salah, Shaqiri, Sturridge, Van Dijk, Wijnaldum. SELECTED UNDER-21 PLAYERS: Alexander-Arnold, Brewster, Camacho, Gomez, Hoever, Lewis, Phillips, Woodburn.
