Coutinho risks angering Liverpool fans with recent comments

Philippe Coutinho

Philippe Coutinho has risked the wrath of Liverpool supporters after making comments about his time at Anfield recently.

The attacking midfielder joined Barcelona in January 2018 for £142million but has since failed to impress at the Nou Camp.

And now, in an interview about the upcoming clash with Liverpool in the Champions League semi-final, the ‘Little Magician’ has made a claim about his time as a Red.

“It will surely be a very special game,” Coutinho said, as quoted by the Express.

“It will be my first semi-final in the Champions League. Like all of my team-mates, I am looking forward to having a great game.

“They [Liverpool] are a great team. They are very strong mentally.

“I have been watching them all season and they are excellent going forward and in defence so we will have to be very alert.

“They have a great side and Anfield has a magnificent atmosphere.

“Returning to Anfield will be very special. I spent five years at Liverpool and I was very happy there.

“But now I am wearing a different shirt, different colours so it’s going to be a special game and I hope we can do our best.

“We are focused in all matches and the Champions League is a great objective for the group.

“We are strong mentally. Every game is different but this is obviously an important game.

“We have shown our strength. I like to look at good performances and like to think we can keep doing what’s good for the team.”
