Danny Mills: Adam Lallana would be “perfect” for Man City

Danny Mills believes Adam Lallana would be “perfect” for Manchester City if he was to leave Liverpool this summer.

The former England defender thinks Lallana would fit in well with Pep Guardiola’s side, though it’s believed the creative midfielder is keen on a return to Southampton. Jurgen Klopp is also eager to keep him at Anfield for next season.

Lallana has fallen well down the pecking order at Liverpool, however, and Mills thinks it’s time he moves on.

“You almost forget about him but he is very gifted and a talented footballer,” Mills said.

“I would almost say he more fits the Man City style, he’d be perfect for them with his short, darting runs and clever runs in behind.

“As you start to get older, you realise you are not invincible and your career is not going to go on forever. Liverpool will definitely want to keep him but it might come down to him wanting to reignite his career.

“If that’s the case, he’s going to go. He’s such a good player he won’t be short of interested clubs.”

Lallana’s current contract runs out next summer, though the option exists to extend it for a further year.
