Milner On Champions League Setback: We Need To Bounce Back

The Liverpool vice-captain sought to rally the troops after a 3-0 loss to Barcelona set up a daunting second leg at Anfield.
We all do it.
After a big win, every Liverpool supporter with an broadband connection is mainlining Reds content: F5-ing TLO on the hour, bingeing Youtube highlight videos, maybe a bit more TLO, reveling in the gushing pundit analyses and even perusing the occasional non-TLO website.
On the other hand, Fowler forbid that Liverpool lose—as they did on Wednesday’s first leg of the Champions League semifinal against Barcelona by a horribly unjust 3-0 margin—and we all suddenly start searching for the power plug to the internet to make the pain can go away.
However, James Milner and the Reds can’t afford to hide their heads and the sand, as concentration is required to maintain pressure on Manchester City in the league when Liverpool take on Rafa Benitez and Newcastle on Saturday:
”I think we are used to playing games in quick succession and we’ve seen the character in this squad on more than one occasion over the last few years,” the vice-captain said.
”We all know the character that is there. We need to be together and bounce back from that. I have no doubt that this team will do that.”
The same sentiment rings true on the European front, as though the deficit to Barcelona is daunting, the second leg is at the same magical Anfield atmosphere that saw the Reds win improbably over Borussia Dortmund not too long ago:
”Obviously it’s possible,” Milner continued when asked about a potential miracle comeback. “If it’s possible anywhere then it is possible at Anfield.”
”We have seen special European nights there before and big comebacks. It’s going to be very difficult, we know that.
”We have to bounce back quickly from this with a big game at the weekend. Hopefully we can get a good result there and get a bit of positivity going into next week.”
And so e rise up from the mat and hope against hope. YNWA.
