Watch: All 89 Liverpool’s 2018-19 Premier League Goals
It was a season to remember.
It was a season that deserved a Premier League title. From Divock Origi’s 96th minute winner in the Merseyside derby to the 5-1 demolition of Arsenal to Trent Alexander-Arnold’s record hat trick of assists against Watford to the last-gasp victory over Newcastle to Daniel Sturridge’s point-saving golazo against Chelsea to humiliating Man United to the extent that they were forced to fire Jose Mourinho—start to finish, Liverpool’s 2018-19 was an experience that was just as much about the journey as the destination.
Though as supporters, we can rue the fact that we couldn’t scrounge up one more win to take us to 99 points and the long-awaited title, it still does not take away from the joy this team has brought us over these past nine months.
Strive to better, of course, but also celebrate your progress. There is bravery and heart and character in the 89 Premier League goals Liverpool scored this season. While the solid half of that tally ascribed to Mohamed Salah and Saido Mané might have take the headlines, it was Xherdan Shaqiri’s monumental double to down United, Roberto Firmino sitting three Arsenal defenders down to recrown the Londoners as Banter FC, James Milner’s nerveless penalties and a host of others who made this campaign one to remember.
So turn down the lights, embrace the chills and relive all 89 Liverpool goals alongside club commentator Steve Hunter and Liverpool legend John Aldridge. You’re welcome.
