Andy Robertson provides injury update after Scotland setback

Despite initial fears that he would be laid off for some time, Liverpool’s Andy Robertson is not expected to miss the start of the 2019/20 season through injury.

The Scotland captain was unable to participate in his side’s clash with Belgium on Tuesday night after picking up a reported hamstring injury.

Fans feared the 25-year-old would be unavailable for the start of another crucial season under Jurgen Klopp, in which he’s expected to remain the first-choice left-back for the club.

However, Robertson himself has moved to dispel any injury fears by posting on social media about his injury.

Writing on his personal Instagram account, the defender said: “Frustrating to miss last nights game and to end an incredible season on a small low! Now it’s time to switch off, recover and get ready to do it all over again with club and country!”

Liverpool players are set to return to training in the first week of July, though it remains to be seen whether or not Robertson will be able to join them at that stage.
