Gerrard turns down chance to manage Derby County

Former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has rejected the chance to manage in England after turning down an approach from Derby County, according to The Times.
Gerrard is currently bolstering his Rangers side ahead of a renewed Scottish Premiership title push next season.
However, with Derby boss Frank Lampard set to make the switch to former club Chelsea after the departure of Maurizio Sarri, the Rams are on the hunt for a new manager and had identified Gerrard as the ideal replacement.

While Lampard’s return to the top flight isn’t guaranteed at this stage, Derby are working under the assumption that the former Stamford Bridge hero will be gone soon, and made contact with Gerrard over a potential managerial transfer.
But the 39-year-old has turned down their approach in favour of remaining in Scotland, for the time being at least.
The former Reds skipper is likely to return to England in the not-too-distant future once he’s gained sufficient coaching experience, with plenty of Championship and Premier League teams keeping tabs on him.
