Liverpool linked with move for key Tottenham playmaker

Liverpool have been linked with a move for Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen by former Spurs star Jamie O’Hara, according to reports.

Eriksen is a major transfer target for Real Madrid this summer as the La Liga giants look to rebuild an ageing squad, with Manchester United also monitoring the player.

The Dane further fuelled speculation that he’s set to leave the London club in a recent interview with Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet, when he said: “I feel that I am at a stage of my career where I would like to try something new.

“I have the deepest respect for everything that is happening at Tottenham and it would not be something negative to stay.

“But I have also said that I would like to try something new. I hope that something will be decided this summer. That is the plan.

“In football you never know when there could be a decision like that. It could be at any point. The best thing is always for it to happen quickly but in football things take time.”

And O’Hara thinks the playmaker, who has recorded over 250 appearances for Spurs since 2013, should make the move to Merseyside.

“[Liverpool] need a central midfield player,” O’Hara said, according to Sky Sports News.

“I’ve got a sneaky suspicion that they might try and take Eriksen from Tottenham as he’s in the last year on his deal.

“He’s the type of player they need.”
