Liverpool defender could make Germany switch this summer

Liverpool defender Corey Whelan could be on the verge of a switch to Germany this summer, according to Football Insider.
The 21-year-old is set to leave Anfield at the end of the month when his contract expires after the Reds opted not to offer him a new deal.
Whelan has been on the books at Anfield for the last 12 years after joining from Crewe at the age of nine.

However, he failed to make a single first-team appearance in his time at the club, though he did captain the Under-23s.
And with the right-back set to leave at the end of June, the interest of several Football League sides and clubs in the German second tier has been peaked.
Whelan spent two successful loan spells away from Liverpool at Yeovil (2017/18) and Crewe (2018/19), where he gained useful first-team experience.
