Rumor Mongering: Kylian Mbappe Plays with Liverpool on FIFA

So OBVIOUSLY this means the PSG star is Anfield bound.

The transfer window isn’t even open yet, but the media has already lost its collective mind, almost willing a real, actual, significant transfer to take place.

This, today, definitely isn’t that.

Instead, we get speculation based on a short answer in an interview with ESPN. World Cup winner and PSG star and Kylian Mbappe was asked who he would choose in a one-off game on FIFA.

“I play with Liverpool because they win the Champions League.”

And when asked in a follow up whether he likes Jurgen Klopp, he responded:

“Yeah he’s good.”

Well stop the fucking presses, Mbappe likes one of the most likeable people on the planet AND likes to play with the team who were deserved Champions League winners this season.

Holy shit. He’s clearly about to sign a 5, maybe even a 10 year deal with Liverpool.

Or, you know, probably not.

Although Mbappe is rumored to be looking for a move away from PSG, and Liverpool have been interested in him in the past (and would be foolish not to be interested in him now), this is hardly the Big Transfer Hint™ the media are making it out to be.

There’s also the small matter of money, both what it would take to pry him away from PSG and the salary that a player of his caliber would require. FSG have not shied away from splashing the cash in recent seasons, but they have always done so in a responsible, sustainable manner. As of right now, Mbappe might just be out of Liverpool’s price range.

Of course, if he wants to take a pay cut in order to win the Champions League himself, alongside the players he reveres on FIFA, well, I’m sure Kloppo could find space for him in the squad.
