Rush: “Liverpool FC is back where it belongs”

Liverpool legend Ian Rush believes the club is now “back where it belongs” after winning the Champions League for the sixth time, Anfield HQ can exclusively reveal.

The Welshman scored 346 goals in all competitions during his time at Anfield and now serves as an ambassador for the club.

In his afterword in the upcoming Liverpool FC 2018/19 Season: The Official Story by Harry Harris, the 57-year-old shared his thoughts on Jurgen Klopp’s European success at the helm of the Anfield side.

Rush wrote: “When people say we now have a team that can be as successful as we were the 1980s, I will agree that the potential is definitely there on the pitch.

“And because I work as club ambassador I see first-hand how the manager, chairman Peter Moore and all the backroom staff have helped us go from strength to strength over the past couple of seasons.

“Jürgen Klopp has now firmly cemented his place on the world stage as one of the best managers in a highly competitive era. As a tactician and man-manager, he is second to none in my opinion; and his aura is infectious.

“Liverpool’s fan base is the heartbeat of the club’s success – the supporters have been incredible this season and they have the power to help the players to achieve more and more.

“Most of all, Liverpool FC is back where it belongs – at the top of European football. Players want to play for this club now; Liverpool are a team that most aspire to join. I really believe that the current team can achieve great things and I look forward to being a part of it.”
