Salah seals Afcon win over DR Congo as Egypt progress
Mohamed Salah scored for Egypt last night to send his side into the last 16 of the Africa Cup of Nations.
The Pharaohs beat DR Congo 2-0 in Cairo courtesy of Liverpool’s No.11 and Aston Villa’s Ahmed Elmohamady.
The defender opened the scoring on 25 minutes from inside the DR Congo penalty area after a Salah cross wasn’t dealt with by the defence.

DR Congo had their chances in the match, hitting the woodwork twice during the game to give Egypt a real scare.
However, after Elmohamady handed his side the lead, Salah helped seal the win with a powerful shot on 43 minutes that nestled inside the near post.
The result sees Egypt join Nigeria, who beat Naby Keita’s Guinea 1-0, in the knockout stages of the competition.
Keita started the match in Alexandria but struggled to impact the game properly and was substituted midway through the second half.
