Brewster Talks About His Penalty

Club captain Jordan Henderson asked him to take it
The most interesting storyline of Liverpool’s young preseason so far has to be Rhian Brewster. After a serious injury sideline the youngster for over a year, Brewster came into this preseason with a point to prove and spot in the first team to earn. It would be tough to see how Brewster could’ve performed any better than he has through the first 3 preseason matches, scoring 4 goals so far.
He netted his 4th last night on a penalty kick in the second half against Borussia Dortmund. The origin story of how that penalty came about is rather cool. With the second half lineup on the pitch, there was not a designated penalty taker out there. Club captain Jordan Henderson asked Brewster if he wanted to take the penalty.
Brewster told the liverpoolfc.com, “Hendo was walking but he asked if I wanted it and I said, ‘Yeah’. He said, ‘Go on’. I picked my spot and hit it there.” Rhian continued. “It’s good to score again but it’s just good to get more minutes and get fitter and fitter each time.
“It’s really nice for them to think that and it gave me confidence to go and take the pen. I’m sure if Millie was on the pitch he would have taken it.
“It’s good that they’ve got faith in me and luckily enough I put it away.”
