The 23-year-old Guinean François Kamano is said to be a €15M target for the Reds.

Liverpool fans were told to not expect much heading into the transfer window, but so far at least the reality has fallen closer to nothing at all than to not much, with the only signings so far a pair of promising youngsters not expected to play a significant role this season.

Still, the expectation heading in was that the club would at least sign a versatile forward to provide depth to their star starting trio and a fullback who could cover both flanks, and today at least there is a rumour linking them to a forward who would seem to fit the bill.

Bordeaux’s 23-year-old winger François Kamano, who scored 13 goals and four assists last season and can play on either side, is said to be a €15M target for the Reds, and the age, positional flexibility, and scoring return would all seem to make him a reasonable target.

The problem is it’s Italy’s CalcioMercato who started the rumour—an Italian outlet leading the way on a story of a Ligue 1 player going to England. Which makes it hard to give it much credence. Still, Kamano’s the kind of target fans have been told the Reds might try for.

In the end Kamano may not arrive—probably won’t, all things considered—but a versatile forward, younger than the current front three and for less than £20M is what the fans have been told could be targeted, and there’s still a little time left before the season kicks off.
