Just in time for the season to begin, too.

The season is almost upon us, so it’s probably good that some our injured players are almost ready to return. Naby Keita and Xherdan Shaqiri both sustained injuries during international games. Shaqiri injured his calf during Switzerland’s June 9th Nations League game against England, while Keita suffered a minor adductor strain while representing Guinea in the Africa Cup of Nations.

Both Shaqiri and Keita struggled with injuries during their first season with Liverpool, so a full recovery for both players prior to the start of the next season will be ideal.

Keita and Shaqiri have both been back in training and will likely return to play in Wednesday’s match against Lyon.

“Shaqiri and Keita as well, they already trained one session with us,” Klopp told the club’s website after the 3-0 loss against Napoli.

”They are not here but they will come tomorrow because they trained today. They will come tomorrow and should hopefully be a step further [along the process to return].

”Hopefully they can play a couple of minutes on Wednesday.”

In addition to Shaqiri and Keita, Liverpool will also welcome back Alisson Becker, Roberto Firmino, and Mohamed Salah by Wednesday, with Sadio Mane due to return the week after.
