Rumour Mongering: Ryan Kent Signing a Top Priority for Bielsa and Leeds United

Marcelo Bielsa was reportedly at Anfield over the weekend to watch Ryan Kent and discuss a potential Leeds move.
While Leeds United headed to Australia to begin their pre-season tour, Marcelo Bielsa stayed behind in England to watch Liverpool take on Bradford and hold discussions with Jürgen Klopp, with Ryan Kent widely rumoured to be the reason why.
At least that’s the story being told today in multiple outlets in Scotland, all worried a return to Rangers for Kent is now unlikely with Bielsa and Leeds pushing hard to sign the player—and more able than Rangers to afford Liverpool’s £12M asking price.
Kent has joined Liverpool for their USA pre-season tour and has an outside chance of securing a first team role at Anfield this season, but if he cannot it is believed the club would prefer a permanent sale of the 22-year-old rather than another loan.
At that point, should some club not be willing to meet their £12M asking price, Rangers would have first option to take him on loan for another season—though at this point in his career, another year with Rangers on loan would seem to serve little purpose.
Meanwhile, there’s Leeds. The Championship side have been linked with Kent before, and if Bielsa stayed behind in England to watch Liverpool over the weekend, Kent is the most obvious player for the passionate Argentine to have been watching.
Kent might not end up there when everything’s said and done, but a £12M move to Leeds would seem to make a lot more sense for the player and Liverpool than another season with Steven Gerrard in Scotland and sorting it all out again in 2020.
