Rumour Mongering: Liverpool and Diomande Reportedly Agree Personal Terms

According to French outlet Media Foot, Liverpool FC and Yan Diomande have agreed on personal terms, and all that remains is an agreement with RB Leipzig on a transfer fee.

Paris Saint-Germain had been linked with the player as well, and even though there are still rumours they may submit their own bid and spark a bidding war, the general consensus is that they’re behind in the race.

Further reporting from Liverpool-connected journalist Lewis Steele of the Daily Mail on his YouTube channel added that he thinks a deal is likely:

“I’ve been speaking to people from the Leipzig camp, from the Diomande camp and also from people in this country as well. As I said last week, I really do think this one will happen.

“Publicly they’re saying he’s not for sale but privately – I know privately – they’re sort of conceding the fact that they are going to have to sell him. They’re standing firm on their €130m valuation of Diomande. They might come down slightly, though.”

It’s probably still too early to declare this transfer inevitable. Leipzig will be keen to drag this out to tack on a few million with each great Diomande performance at the World Cup and hope PSG or some other club enter the table and drive up the price, but for now, Liverpool appear to be in pole position. With rumours that the player is unhappy that a move hasn’t already happened and is putting pressure on Leipzig, hopefully, it means Liverpool will be able to wrap it up soon.
