Liverpool Reportedly Reject Fiorentina Approach for Academy Star

The Serie A side sought to sign Bobbdy Duncan but the Reds have no plans to loan or sell the striker this summer.

Bobbdy Duncan, Liverpool’s 18-year-old striker, was left out of the U23s earlier in the week, fuelling speculation that he could be on the verge of a departure, but word today out of the club is that that won’t be happening this summer.

Instead, the highly regarded youngster will be kept at the club. So say The Liverpool Echo, who further claim that an offer from Fiorentina—a loan-to-buy approach that would have seen them pay around €2M for him next summer—was rejected out of hand.

Short-term, at least, Duncan is expected to remain at the academy splitting his time between the U23s and U18s as he continues his development, while in the slightly longer term at least Liverpool have no intentions of selling him.

Earlier reports had claimed Fiorentina could offer as much as £10M for Duncan, though it appears those numbers were rather inflated. A straight loan approach from Nordsjaelland has also reportedly been turned down.

With the transfer window still open for clubs outside England’s top two divisions, that may not quite be the end of the speculation, but it seems likeliest at this point that the club do intend not to sanction a summer move for Duncan.
