Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain Wound Up Over Salah Question

Is Salah selfish? Ox thinks you’re having a laugh.

A few weeks ago, there was a very public kerfuffle between Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah. Salah, had several chances to play in his teammates—first Roberto Firmino, and then Sadio Mane—and on both occasions he decided to shift the ball onto his far weaker right foot to have a shot.

Mane...was not pleased. And because it happened just before international break, it became a thing. However, the players seem to have smoothed things over, and now they’re laughing about it, including Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

“Mohamed Salah isn’t selfish because...” Oxlade-Chamberlain repeated back the sentence he was asked to complete for BBC’s Match of the Day, “Isn’t selfish? Are you winding me up?

“The guy don’t pass to us. Are you mad? Ask Sadio,” Ox joked.

“No, Mo Salah isn’t selfish because he’s a goalscorer. He’s gotta do that.

“We can’t expect him to pass us the ball all the time and him to score loads of goals. The way he plays wins us games, so he’s got to do what he’s got to do.

“He scores, we win the game. I’m happy. Mo, do what you want!”

I’m sure Sadio doesn’t feel exactly the same way, but it seems as if the rest of the squad is having a good ol’ laugh. Of course, strikers must be a little selfish. They’re tasked with passing the ball into the back of the net, not necessarily to each other.

Anyway, it seems as if the lads have moved on from the “controversy,” and hopefully will find their goal-scoring form again when they travel to face Chelsea tomorrow.
