Liverpool Youth Set to Debut in Carabao Cup

Liverpool takes on MK Dons on Wednesday
Liverpool have started their league campaign with six straight wins, which takes their league winning streak to 14 straight league wins. The Reds are also on the march to defend their Champions League title, unfortunately losing their first group stage match away to Napoli 2-0 last week. The priorities for this Liverpool side are crystal clear. After all, they are a team that got 97 points and won the European Cup last season.
It’s no surprise that the League Cup is not a high priority opportunity for this team, especially after drawing a side that was just promoted to the 3rd division in MK Dons. But, given the seriousness of the league campaign and Champions League defense, the League Cup provides Liverpool an interesting chance to test their squad depth in a competitive setting. According to Neil Jones in Goal, Liverpool could see as many five senior debuts for some of their teenagers.
Caoimhin Kelleher and Rhian Brewster are set for their senior debuts on Wednesday night. The likes of Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliott, Adam Lewis, Ki-Jana Hoever and Sepp van den Berg could all see time on the pitch as well. Other senior pros such as Adam Lallana, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Xherdan Shaqiri, Dejan Lovren, and Joe Gomez are also nailed on to appear. We could also see Naby Keita in an injury rehab appearance as well.
It’ll be interesting on Wednesday night, but Liverpool should still have a squad strong enough to take care of business.
