Trent Alexander-Arnold is better than Kyle Walker, says Lee Dixon
Former Arsenal right-back Lee Dixon said live on an ITV broadcast that he thinks Trent Alexander-Arnold is a better right-back than Kyle Walker.
The young Scouser broke the Premier League record for most assists in a single campaign by a defender by setting up 12 goals for his Liverpool teammates last season.
He’s already picked up where he left off and has two in four games – the most of any defender in the division. Of course, it’s still early days but it seems likely that he will again pick up the most assists by a defender.
“Obviously [Kyle] Walker’s experienced and he’s not in the squad,” Dixon said on ITV on Tuesday night, as quoted by the Express. “I think in the squad these two [Alexander-Arnold and Chilwell] are the best for me.
“Alexander-Arnold, his season last year was phenomenal going forward, he’s learning the game defensively. I’m a big fan of Chilwell as well at left-back, he’s going to be a top, top left-back.”
Walker cost Manchester City £50million in 2017 when they signed him from Spurs but Liverpool’s new kid on the block is constantly stealing headlines with his Gerrard-esque passing and delivery.
While Alexander-Arnold might not have as much experience as Walker does, the 20-year-old is well on his way to becoming one of the Premier League’s all-time greatest fullbacks.
