David De Gea hopeful of starting against Liverpool
The Times reports that Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea is hopeful of being included in the side to face Liverpool on Sunday.
The Spaniard suffered a groin injury while on international duty during the week and is now a doubt to face Jurgen Klopp’s side when they travel to Old Trafford on Sunday.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had originally claimed that De Gea needed a scan before a decision would be made on his involvement ahead of the weekend’s crunch clash.
Now, the Times claims that the former Atletico Madrid star is hopeful of being involved. The injury is reportedly unserious and a decision will apparently be made after further tests today.
While De Gea might be hopeful of starting, the report indicates that United’s medical staff aren’t quite as optimistic and Sergio Romero is expected to start in nets for the 12th-placed outfit.
‘David needs a scan,’ Solskjaer said while being interviewed about his side’s injured players.
