James Pearce responds to Jadon Sancho rumours

During a Q&A for the Athletic, James Pearce responded to rumours that Jadon Sancho was in Liverpool house-hunting ahead of a move to the European Champions.

He said: “I’d be very surprised if that was true. Klopp certainly likes him but he’s only recently signed a new contract at [Borussia] Dortmund and would be very expensive.”

The 19-year-old is a player that most Liverpool fans would love to see join in the next couple years even though Mohamed Salah is still tearing it up down the right-hand side.

He would, however, require the Reds to break the bank in order to sign given his prodigious talent and age.

Sancho has scored seven goals and assisted five this season and while it seems likely that he will eventually return to England, it doesn’t appear as though that will happen too soon.

Some supporters believe the Reds are planning a marquee signing after Jurgen Klopp abstained from making any transfer moves in the summer which will mean there will be a lot of cash saved up by the time the next transfer window swings around.

Of course, this is just speculation but we’ll see in due course what Liverpool have planned.
