Reds Abroad: Three Liverpool Players Named to Brazil Squad

Tite has selected Alisson, Fabinho, and Roberto Firmino for Brazil’s future slate of friendlies.

Liverpool have a big fixture tomorrow against Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League, but being that we are about two weeks out from the next International break, it only makes sense that there’d be some news regarding Reds who have commitments to their national teams. This time, the news comes out as Brazil as reports from Liverpool’s official site confirm that three first teamers have been named to Tite’s 23-man roster.

It isn’t much of a surprise to note that Alisson and Roberto Firmino would be considered for a call-up to Brazi’s squad, given that each has not only established themselves firmly in the national team set up, but also given that they have been roundly praised as among the best - and, in Alisson’s case, arguably the best - at their positions. They are natural selections for the Seleção.

Fabinho, on the other hand, is a bit of news. Not as much a surprise for Reds fans who’ve seen the midfielder become not only an indispensable cog in Jurgen Klopp’s side, but whose stock has also risen among observers and pundits alike. Fabinho is often counted in permutations of Liverpool’s best three midfielders - perhaps the only such player to have such round consensus.

However, before this announcement, Fabinho had mostly been a fringe player in Brazil’s set up. Getting a call up now is an affirmation, then, of the hardworking and quality performances he’s put in over the past season and change.

Brazil are slated to face off against Argentina and South Korea during the November break. A hearty congratulations to our three Reds as well as the eternal hope that they all return to Merseyside in tip top health.
