Liverpool linked with Timo Werner once again

Timo Werner.

Liverpool have once again been linked with RB Leipzig forward Timo Werner and the German would be the perfect forward for Jurgen Klopp to recruit.

The Mirror reports that Manchester United are ready to hijack a bid from Liverpool to sign the forward but the Reds are unlikely to be concerned about their rivals given their troubles over the last few years.

United are in a dire situation as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s aimless management continues to keep them stranded in midtable while Liverpool remain unbeaten this season.

Werner signed a contract in the summer but, according to the report, it contains a £27million release clause that Liverpool can trigger to take him to Merseyside in January or the summer transfer window.

While Divock Origi has proven several times that he is a world-class super-sub, he isn’t anywhere near as effective when played from the start which is a concern in the event one of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane or Roberto Firmino get injured.

Werner has been on fire this season and scored a hattrick against Mainz at the weekend, grabbing a hattrick of assists in the same game to send a message to the top teams in Europe.

The German has 17 goals for club and country this season and at £27million, would be a bargain of note.
