Liverpool are reportedly no longer interested in Bundesliga forward
Liverpool are no longer interested in Leipzig’s Timo Werner after signing forward Takumi Minamino, according to German football expert Raphael Honigstein.
The Reds completed the signing of Minamino from Salzburg yesterday. Liverpool triggered Minamino’s £7.25 million release clause last week.
The Japan international passed his medical on Wednesday, which therefore means he will officially become a Liverpool player on January 1.
With Minamino added to Jurgen Klopp’s squad, Honigstein believes Liverpool will not make a move for Werner at this current moment.
Honigstein said, as quoted by the Daily Star: “I was probably expecting Liverpool to make a move for Timo Werner. He could have been the fourth guy, but it didn’t happen.

“Minamino is a lot cheaper but perhaps also has more value in terms of the improvement and the places he can go.”
Werner has found the net 23 times in 24 appearances in all competitions this season, which highlights his ability in front of goal.
Despite how strong Werner’s record is in front of goal, Minamino could prove to be the better signing due to his versatility.
However, Honigstein did not rule out the potential transfer of Werner to Liverpool occurring in the future.
But, with how strong Liverpool are in attack, it does make it difficult to see the Reds making a move at this current moment.
