Pep Guardiola gives verdict on which is the bigger fixture for Man City out of Liverpool and Man United

Citizens boss Pep Guardiola believes that the games against Manchester United are just as big as the fixtures against Liverpool for Manchester City.

For the past couple of seasons, the games between Liverpool and Manchester City have been the blockbuster matches within the Premier League.

This simply stems from the fact that both sides play an attractive brand of football, and that does not change when they come up against each other.

However, despite this being the case, Guardiola rejects the idea that the fixtures against Liverpool are bigger than the fixtures against Manchester United for the Citizens.

Guardiola said when asked about Liverpool potentially being a bigger rival than Manchester United, as quoted by the Manchester Evening News: “Not especially. Now maybe Liverpool in the last two seasons is the competitor and have been closer but I think I didn’t approach the United games differently to Liverpool, honestly. I try to discover the secrets about the players they have, the systems they use, but not especially.”

Guardiola has every right to say what he has. Despite the fact that Manchester United are not the club that they once were, they are still Manchester City’s neighbours.

However, there is no denying that Liverpool and Manchester City is a superb contest at this moment and time. It is a fixture that every football fan would look forward to watching.

The Reds defeated the Citizens 3-1 at Anfield in the Premier League earlier this season.
