Rumour Mongering: Wolves Set Traore Price with Liverpool in the Mix

The Reds and just about every big Premier League side want Adama Traore according to the rumour mongers.

Liverpool aren’t expected to make any moves this January beyond the already completed deal to bring Takumi Minamino to Anfield, but they could be set for a big summer with fans and pundits throwing around names like Timo Werner, Kai Havertz, and Kylian Mbappe.

Another potential big name, big money deal that’s been talked about for the Reds is Wolverhampton wrecking ball Adama Traore, the 24-year-old forward who has been the Wanderers’ standout so far this season and has reportedly been attracting heavy attention.

According to a smattering of reports this week in the land of the rumour mongers, Traore is almost certain to leave Wolves this summer and the player wants to stay in England and so wouldn’t consider a move back to Barcelona, where his career began at their La Masia.

And if you’re moving on from an established top ten club with Europa League aspirations, there are only a few clubs you can go to. No surprise, then, that all of Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea, and Tottenham are being linked with a potential summer move for Traore.

For Liverpool, Traore would be about bringing in a player who could lighten the workload of Sadio Mané and Mohamed Salah in the short term and shift the age profile of the front line younger, likely setting up a situation where he would replace one as first choice after a year.

For City, a Traore deal would be dependant on Leroy Sané moving on as expected in the summer. Chelsea and Spurs would see him as a clear upgrade for their starting elevens, and Man United have also been tentatively linked but aren’t considered real contenders.

Wolves, meanwhile, are said to be comfortable as Traore’s deal runs through 2023, there’s a lengthy list of at least rumoured buyers, and they have no need to sell unless they get a massive payday—with £75M said to be the price at which they’d consider selling.
