WHO Director Praises Jürgen Klopp

The Liverpool manager’s words resonate outside of the world of football
The football world came to a standstill yesterday after the Premier League decided to halt matches until at least April 4th in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Obviously, public health and safety is the most important thing in a time like this. That was the core of Jürgen Klopp’s message yesterday. The Reds’ manager’s words didn’t just resonate with Liverpool supporters, but also with World Health Organization director Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.

Ghebreyesus sent out this tweet on Saturday morning thanking Klopp for his poignant message to Liverpool fans.
“Thank you Jürgen Klopp and LFC for your powerful message to the world.” The director says in the tweet. “Put people’s health first, reduce risks, care for the vulnerable and compassion: this is the WHO way. We will win the fight against #COVID19 if we are working together.”
Ghebreyesus would go on later in his thread to thank WHO sports ambassadors, including Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker. He also challenged his followers to wash their hands. That’s very sound advice, all things considered.
