Premier League Expected to Use FIFA 20 for Crowd Noise

Using the game’s sound files as background noise is likely to be the answer to added atmosphere when football returns.

Usually, the main reason to talk about FIFA in conjunction with Liverpool is the annual autumnal moan about player ratings. However, with the Premier League’s restart date drawing near, it looks likely that the video game will be playing a role.

That’s because according to The Mail, the league’s preference is to use FIFA 20’s stadium noise tracks to add to in the atmosphere for the coming games played behind closed doors when play resumes on July 17th. It seems a reasonable enough idea.

After all, those sound files have already been compiled and updated over the years by EA Sports, and the most likely alternative would, presumably, be for the league itself to spend the coming weeks creating their own stadium noise database from scratch.

Other plans for staging the games without include fan mosaics, and the introduction of a tactical camera angle that allows fans watching to see the entire pitch from high overhead in order to watch play development and off the ball player movement.

Further, current plans have staggered kickoffs so that no games overlap—and for viewers in the United Kingdom there will be no three o’clock Saturday blackout to deal with, meaning that every game the rest of the way this season will be televised.
