Reading Reportedly Set to Complete Ovie Ejaria Transfer
The Liverpool midfielder will soon have a permanent home with the Championship side.
After spending the past season-and-a-half with Reading on loan, Ovie Ejaria is set to join the Championship side permanently this week in a deal that sources close to the club say was intended to be completed immediately following the end of the 2019-20 season.
According to Berkshire Live, Reading and Liverpool had agreed to convert Ojaria’s loan into a permanent deal for £3.5M only to have the Football League to put a “soft embargo” on incoming transfers due to the club’s finances. Now, that embargo has been lifted.
With a buyer lined up and Ejaria in favour of remaining at a club for which he has played 55 times, all sides were content to wait for a resolution, and now it has been found there are expected to be no further delays or stumbling blocks to getting the deal done.
Based on reports concerning the permanent option on Ejaria from last summer, that £3.5M fee will include a £3M guaranteed portion and a half million in add-ons. There will also be an included 20% sell-on fee for the 22-year-old England youth international.
