Uruguay and Colombia had a tight World Cup qualifying match that featured both Liverpool players.

Liverpool’s Good Vibes Only clubhouse policy has been a real gift for fans over the last 10 years or so. While one might say it’s easy given that it also coincides with Liverpool’s strongest decade in some time, it hasn’t all been easy - the down season following the Premier League winning campaign stands out.

But one of the fun things to do is catch who among the club has formed tight bonds. In the past we’ve seen the likes of Mohamed Salah and Dejan Lovren. There’s also James Milner and Andy Robertson. We’ve also had the South American Board Game contingent once pulled together by cult favorite Lucas Leiva.

On the current iteration, one of the strongest friendships is between Darwin Nuñez and Luis Díaz. It’s been great watching these two in particular support each other on and off the pitch; doubly interesting given there’s some sense that they can (and have) rotate for each other on the left and in the center. Still, they along with Alexis Mac Allister seem to all have a terrific understanding and care for each other.

On Friday, that was brought to the fore as Uruguay and Colombia squared off in a World Cup qualifying match. Both Liverpool players played the full match, which was back-and-forth. The winning goal finally came in the 11th minutes of stoppage time (90+11) as Manchester United’s Manuel Ugarte fired Uruguay past Colombia.

The win is significant in that it moved Uruguay ahead of Colombia on goal difference in the qualifying table for CONMEBOL. Next up, Colombia will face Ecuador and Uruguay take on Brazil with both matches taking place on Tuesday, November 19th.
